Nineteen of Daniil Medvedev's twenty-one titles have been earned on hardcourt

A revitalized Daniil Medvedev claimed his initial title for 882 days with victory over opponent Moutet in the Almaty Open final.

The Russian, a former world number one, has endured a challenging year, achieving just one match at the big events and experiencing a meltdown at the New York tournament.

Medvedev's unpredictability on the ATP Tour - and difficulties with his service game in particular - led to him falling of the world's top 10 and eventually separating with long-time coach his previous coach.

Now training with his coach and Goetzke, the tennis star has steadily progressed in the recent weeks - peaking in a hard-fought 7-5 4-6 6-3 victory over challenger Moutet.

This represents the player's maiden title since the Rome competition and initial on a hardcourt since that period of 2023.

Victory also signifies the Russian has achieved 21 victories at twenty-one different competitions.

"For the first time I have attended a competition with my children simultaneously, so to win a title is especially meaningful," stated world number 14 Daniil Medvedev.

"This title is in dedication of my younger daughter my daughter, because the maiden victory I got when my first daughter my daughter was born was for her."

The tennis star, the past champion, had been defeated in his previous six finals, featuring in that event in the past months.

The player's retrieving play style and recurring reactions on the tennis court had led some to wonder if his skill to play at the elite level was concluded.

Yet the 29-year-old has altered his approach in recent weeks, striving to approach the net and perform positively, reinforced by an enhanced serve.

Medvedev fought back from a break down in the opening set against the difficult Frenchman, winning 4 of the last five points to take the lead.

The competitors swapped break points in the second set before the challenger, striving for his maiden tour victory, gained dominance to force a decider.

The opponent saved four initial opportunities in a tight deciding set before the champion broke to 15 to serve for the match.

Appropriately, he earned the title with a point at the net, with Moutet failing to handle a volley after over two and a half hours.
